FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—MLB Hall of Fame Inductee Dave Parker teams up with Iconic Sandlot to Support Parkinson’s Cinema Therapy Program

Legends never die, and neither does the magic of The Sandlot. Yes, And…eXercise!, a nonprofit bringing improv and storytelling to the Parkinson’s disease (PD) community, is thrilled to announce an epic online silent auction and fundraiser featuring memorabilia from the beloved 1993 film The Sandlot and Major League Baseball’s newest Hall of Fame inductee, Dave Parker. In partnership with The Sandlot’s director David Mickey Evans and Parker (a.k.a. The Cobra), this one-of-a-kind event will raise funds for the groundbreaking Cinema Therapy program, The Legendary Parkinson’s Pickle!
This 16-week online class will allow people in the Dave Parker39 Foundation community living with PD, along with care partners and wellness professionals, to explore their own hero’s journey through improvisation, music, select clips from The Sandlot and guided writing. For the first time, The Sandlot will serve as the featured film in the course. The stories created in this class will be shared to help people better understand, engage with, and support the PD community. Dave was diagnosed with PD in 2012. You can hear more about his story in exclusive interviews on our webpage.

“Parkinson’s is the fastest growing neurological disease in the world - which puts us all in a pickle,” said Robert Cochrane, PhD, founder of Yes, And…eXercise! “It represents differently inside of every person who is diagnosed. In order to better understand, care for and ultimately find a cure, we have to explore, discover and share the whole, dynamic and engaging stories of what it’s like to live with Parkinson’s disease. And what better film to do that with than The Sandlot? It’s about friendship, courage, and making the impossible possible.”
Bidding is open, with signed memorabilia, baseballs, and other legendary items up for grabs. All proceeds go to Yes, And…eXercise, which will run The Legendary Parkinson’s Pickle program to the Dave Parker39 Foundation community.
