Legendary:
The Sandlot and
Dave Parker

This Cinema Therapy class knocks it out of the park—using The Sandlot and the Hero’s Journey to help people in the Dave Parker39 Foundation community learn to explore, discover and share their legendary stories. It’s about courage, connection, and finding your inner Jet. We will be auctioning exclusive autographed items from The Sandlot Director and Writer, David Mickey Evans, and MLB Hall of Famer, Dave Parker, soon to cover the tuition for students to take the class. PS - did you know The Sandlot is screening in Cooperstown on May 24th?

We all know our inner Smalls; the one who shrinks from the opportunity to become not only accepted but legendary in his own way. We're going to learn from Smalls, Ham, Jet, Benny, the Babe, the Beast and so many more about how to rise up and claim what is rightfully our own. This class is open to everyone in the Dave Parker39 Foundation community - people with PD, caretakers, family members, and wellness/medical providers. Join us!

We're here with Doug King, Self-appointed Event Coordinator (and so much more) with the Dave Parker Foundation (https://www.daveparker39foundation.com/). We're talking all things Cinema Therapy Sandlot (https://www.yesandexercise.org/sandlot) as we'll be running that program for community members from that awesome Cincinnati organization.  Who is this show for? Short answer: everyone. As we like to say at YAX: You belong. Have fun. Is there something we're not talking about that we should? Let us know and be the guest that shines the light on what we're missing!  Robert and Susan are the creators of the Daily Dose form an interesting duo. Robert is a longtime care partner for his father with Parkinson's disease (PD). Susan is a woman who was diagnosed with PD in 2015. They've both made award-winning films about their experiences with PD and are now co-founders of the non-profit, YAX! - www.yesandexercise.com. The mission of YAX! is to provide a safe, fun and kind place for people with and affected by Parkinson’s disease to connect, empower and enhance their lives through improvisation. That's right: improvisation. We play - mostly online so we can get as many people as we can from as many places as we can. We do not charge. We do accept donations from those who wish to pay it forward.  Robert earned his PhD from the Interdisciplinary Health Sciences program at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. He is researching the effect of improvisation on PD and the results of his clinical trials can be found at his website, www.yesandexercise.org.  Join us for fun, laughter and your daily dose of dope(-amine).

We are family

Let’s come together to celebrate a true baseball legend —

Dave Parker, freshly inducted into the Hall of Fame —

and support an incredible cause: raising awareness for

Parkinson’s disease.

In partnership with the Dave Parker39 Foundation,

Dr. Robert Cochrane, founder of the nonprofit

Yes, And…eXercise!, is launching a 16-week online

Cinema Therapy course. This unique class will guide a

select group of participants from the Parkinson’s

community (including people with PD, care partners,

family members and wellness providers) through the

Hero’s Journey of The Sandlot — using the film’s timeless

story to inspire them to share their own powerful tales of

resilience, baseball, and becoming legends in their own right.

To help support this groundbreaking program, The Sandlot’s beloved director David Mickey Evans is stepping up to the plate with a special auction featuring classic, autographed Sandlot memorabilia. That’s right — now’s your chance to own a piece of movie history and help people with Parkinson’s discover the hero within themselves.

This is more than a fundraiser — it’s a chance to celebrate Dave Parker’s legacy, honor the spirit of The Sandlot, and change lives through the power of story.

Join us, place your bids, and help turn every diagnosis into a new adventure.

Forever legends. Forever Sandlot. Forever The Cobra.

You're not just supporting a class.
You're helping us strike out Parkinson’s.

On the power of storytelling

“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.”
― Maya Angelou

“The stories we tell literally make the world. If you want to change the world, you need to change your story. This truth applies both to individuals and institutions.”
― Michael Margolis
