Introducing Yes, And…X

Rewriting Parkinson’s…

one story at a time.

For years, our work has lived under the name Yes, And…eXercise!, a program rooted in improvisation, storytelling, and the belief that even in the face of Parkinson’s, there is still space to create, connect, and grow.

That belief hasn’t changed. But something deeper has come into focus: This work was never just about exercise. It was never just about classes or programs. It has always been about something more fundamental:

How do we live with the unknown?

Today, we’re proud to introduce the next chapter of that work:

Yes, And…X

At its core, this rebrand is a refinement of what we’ve always believed and a clearer expression of where we’re going.

In improvisation, “yes, and” is a powerful tool. It means accepting what’s in front of you and choosing to move forward with it. Not denying it. Not fighting it. But building from it.

That philosophy translates directly to life with Parkinson’s.

  • Yes is acceptance.

  • And is action.

  • X is the unknown.

And for anyone navigating Parkinson’s, the unknown is everywhere:

  • How will symptoms progress?

  • What will tomorrow feel like?

  • What will next year look like?

We don’t pretend to have all the answers. Nobody does. But we do believe this:

When we meet the unknown with “yes, and,” something shifts. We move from fear to possibility. From isolation to connection. From uncertainty to agency.

X becomes the way.

What This Means in Practice

Yes, And…X is more than a name. It’s a framework for how we approach this work to improve quality of life. Make no mistake, what we do is work and garners real results.

Through our programs, Jam for Joy improvisation and Cinema Therapy storytelling, we help people impacted by Parkinson’s:

  • rediscover their voice,

  • reconnect with others,

  • and reimagine what’s possible.

We’ve seen firsthand how storytelling and creative expression can transform how people feel, relate to others, understand themselves, and their place in the world. Please see our Success Stories™ on the site to learn more.

Where This Comes From

This work is deeply personal.

It began with my father’s Parkinson’s diagnosis in 2001 and a cross-country journey in 2004 that became the Boys of Summer film series. What started as a way to cope became something much bigger: a realization that story, connection, and shared experience have the power to change how we live with this disease.

Yes, And…X carries that forward.

What’s Next

This rebrand isn’t a finish line. It’s a starting point.

We’re continuing to expand our programs, deepen our research, and build partnerships across the Parkinson’s community and beyond.

Because ultimately, this isn’t just about Parkinson’s. It’s about how we all respond to uncertainty together.

Yes is acceptance.

And moves us into power.

X becomes the way.

We’re glad you’re here.
