On Valentine’s Day, February 14th, over forty participants gathered online for The Hero’s Journey of Love, a heartwarming and thought-provoking Cinema Therapy event hosted by Yes, And…eXercise! and its founder, Robert Cochrane, PhD. Through the magic of film, storytelling, and community, we embarked on an exploration of love’s many dimensions—its joys, sorrows, complexities, and triumphs.
The event featured 12 carefully selected clips from classic films that encapsulate the essence of love in its many forms. From grand romantic gestures to quiet moments of connection, each clip sparked laughter, reflection, and deep discussion. As we watched, we collectively sighed at the beauty, cried at the heartbreak, debated the meaning of love, and celebrated its enduring power.
Throughout the 90-minute presentation, the chat buzzed with excitement and appreciation. Attendees expressed their gratitude for the experience, rating the event a resounding 10 out of 10! As Reena U. beautifully put it, “It's a blessing to be a part of something incredible and to be there with my husband and my friend today!”
The sense of connection was palpable, even in an online setting. Nicole B. captured the sentiment perfectly when asked to share her thoughts on the presentation: “10 (out of 10)! Thanks for sharing the love today!” Others echoed the feeling, with Peter K. calling the event “so sweet and lovely for Valentine’s Day” and Tom H. sharing, “10. I watched with Louise and we shared our whole journey while we watched.”
One of the most striking aspects of the event was the overwhelming sense of community. Attendees didn’t just watch—they became part of something bigger. Benjamin B. declared, “Become part of our family!!!!” and Karen P. added, “10! More please!”
The impact of The Hero’s Journey of Love extended beyond the event itself. As Megan D. put it, “Great experience today!” and Susan followed with an enthusiastic “DITTO!!!” The ripple effect of these shared moments was undeniable, reinforcing the idea that love, in all its forms, is the most potent and unifying force.
David C. capped off with words of gratitude and admiration for Robert Cochrane’s gift of storytelling: “Robert, you are a Gifted Griot!"(so you don't have to go scrambling for a definition, "a griot is a member of a class of traveling poets, musicians, and storytellers who maintain a tradition of oral history in parts of West Africa.")
For those who missed this unforgettable journey, the full presentation has been recorded and is available for viewing on our website. Whether watching alone or with a loved one, the experience promises to reignite the wonder and mystery of love.
With hearts full and spirits lifted, we left the event reminded that love is not just something we experience—it is something we share, nurture, and celebrate.
Until next time, let’s continue embracing love in all its forms.
