If you’re caring for someone with a chronic illness, you’ve probably gotten very good at holding things together.

You manage appointments. You anticipate needs. You stay calm when things feel anything but. And somewhere along the way, your own story can start to fade into the background.
This Stand By Me Cinema Therapy class isn’t about fixing anything. It’s not about writing “well.” It’s about having a place where you get to show up, honestly, creatively and wholly.
Using the film Stand By Me and the Hero’s Journey as guides, we explore identity, friendship, grief, courage, and what it means to keep going when life changes in ways we didn’t choose. Believe it or not we put a premium on fun and laugh a lot.
Care partners, family members, and people with Parkinson’s participate together as equals. We move to songs that fit the day’s theme. We play games that make us laugh and recognize pieces of ourselves. We learn to craft creative stories with a LOT of help from each other - we truly stand by, with, and for each other. Your story will join the growing chorus of Success Stories™.
“I gave myself permission to imagine what I might do in situations that once felt beyond my reach.” - Susan Scarlett
“I was isolated, misunderstood, and stuck in survival mode. Then I found this class, and everything changed.” - Karen Patterson
“[my writing] has found a supportive audience—it’s become my way of connecting, encouraging, and reminding others: you’re not alone.” - Amy Young
You don’t have to have the right words. You don’t have to carry anyone else for 90 minutes. We just ask that you come as you are. Because your voice and supporting you matters.
Classes begin January 26. Click here to learn more and sign up.
