Justin Conrad is a solitary man people call when the past won’t stay buried. With the power to travel through time, he’s built a reputation for uncovering long-lost truths—other people’s truths. He never digs too close to home.

A case from 1958 forces him into the path of a Marine on leave... a man with his face, his voice, and answers about his life Justin never knew he needed. His father. Meeting him now, at the edge of a dangerous romance, could rewrite everything.

A gunshot, a fevered dream, and a trunk of classified secrets push Justin into an investigation he’s unprepared for—his own family’s buried past. As he unravels a conspiracy that cost his father everything, Justin must confront the truth he’s avoided for decades. The hardest secrets
to face...are the ones with your name on them.

Author: BJ Bement

I’ve spent the last twelve years learning how to turn my Parkinson’s journey into something larger than myself. I was diagnosed at 44, and instead of shutting down, I jumped into advocacy—determined to stand beside others walking the same unpredictable path. Through
Yes, And...eXercise!, especially the Improv and Cinema Therapy classes, I rediscovered parts of myself I didn’t know I’d lost: creativity, vulnerability, teamwork, and the deep importance of both the families we’re born into and the families we build along the way.

With the unwavering support of my wife, Kelly, I’ve learned that life doesn’t stop to make room for a diagnosis. The old wounds still echo. The questions still linger. I lost my father when I was five, and that absence has followed me my entire life—a space filled with uncertainty about the man I never got to know.

This novel is my way of exploring acceptance, forgiveness, and the truths that shape a family. It’s about what it means to be a father, a husband, and a man still learning to heal what was left unanswered.
